Drip Irrigation Supplies Israel

In a country where water is scarce, the need for water-saving irrigation is a must.

In the ’60s, the first plastic drip emitter was tested in Israel after the invention of Simcha Blass and his son Yeshayahu.

Since then, the irrigation business flourished while other countries found great interest in drip irrigation equipment.

After the first company, “Netafim,” established in kibbutz Hazerim, many new companies created other complementary goods and new patents. The farmers enjoyed precise irrigation, and in a later stage where pressure compensated drip lines invented, longer crop beds became possible as the pressure loss through the laterals was minor.

Since then, Israel has become a rule player in the world of irrigation and today holds the 4 biggest companies for drip irrigation supplies, and dozens of other companies both in goods as well as in services.

I will list here the companies I found great interest in, and I believe they sell high-quality products.

At KIM, we supply equipment directly from those factories to our clients abroad. Your saving will range between 15%-30% starting from home scale green-house to projects of thousands of Hecters.

A link to each company website is available by clicking their names.

If you have any questions regarding other drip irrigation supplies from Israel that are not listed under those names, send us an email. We will do our best to help you with that.

Drip Irrigation Planning Process

Drip Irrigation Design & Supplies

KIM is a small firm located in Kibbutz Amir, in the Upper Galilee of Israel. The company focuses on irrigation design, 3D modeling for pipe systems, mapping, GIS, frame design, and analysis and WEB application development for engineers.

General Information We Request from Clients

  1. We need polygon marking over Google Earth files (kmz) or a survey map . If a survey map is not sent, Google Earth topography will be used in the design or High-Res satellite date. If you already have a specific layout for the piping network, you must mark it before we begin the process on the first map.
  2. Marking Water Sources.. This can be any sort of pond, lake, river, etc., as well as marking a preferred pumping method (i.e., centrifugal pumps, submersible, borehole). If a pressure system exists, marking the water source is required.
  3. Defining crop type. This includes the daily water usage of crops, the distance between rows, distance, between laterals.
  4. Emitter type. Sprinkler, drip, pivot, etc. If you are using a specific emitter, please send a PDF of the product data.
  5. Pipe types. For both the main and sub-main types. For example PVC, PE, steel, GRP.
  6. Fittings standard for flanges. Examples: DIN2502, BS4506, ISO7005.

General Information about Drip Irrigation Design & [email protected] KIM

Irrigation design at KIM is divided into two main sections. Mapping + BOM, and 3D Detail + BOM.

A map is a two-dimensional representation of the designed field, and the BOM includes mostly the “infield components,” meaning main pipe, sub-main, fittings, laterals, manual valves, and other components that repeat on land and are represented by a symbol on the map.

The 3D detail is a 1:1 representation of an assembly that serves as a unique system on the field. For example, an irrigation head, pump station, barrier valve, filtration system, fertilizer head. A 3D detail is presented by a drawing which contains a couple of views (usually top, front, and isometric) and BOM with “balloons” on at least one of the views (typically the isometric one).

Defining the details to be modeled for each project is a must. It is also crucial to keep in mind as the client, what exactly are you paying for. The contractor that installed the system should likewise have a clear understanding of what to do when s/he reads the drawings.

How the Process Works

We get the information (listed above) from the client and start mapping the area with Autocad. We will then send the polygons and their respective areas to you for review. We wait for your approval before moving onto the irrigation design.  This usually takes 1 to 4 days, including client review.

The next step is the hydraulic calculation. We will draw according to calculus and create a clear and easy to read map. There will you find piping diameters, flow rates, critical velocity, and required head. You can review and take notes on this map. The notes will be written in the PDF directly using the program “Foxit Reader” (which is free.)

The next step is to finalize the map according to the client notes and create the aesthetic changes necessary as well.

3D details will be created according to the client request, and a drawing for each detail will be reviewed and approved by the client. We will also supply the BOM on .csv or .xls format, depending on the client’s request.

The client will choose whether s/he prefers to order the parts from Israel or a preferred supplier. The advantage of ordering from Israel is that we already have most of the top manufacturers here and our BOM refer to item codes which belong to local manufacturers.

Steel manifold and steel filters can also be supplied from Israel from known and partnering factories. We create for them a set of shop drawings and they build up the manifolds for a 1:1 ratio, and afterward take care of paint, finish type, and packaging details.

Pricing and Corrections

A price quote will be sent for the design before commencing work. Each project is unique and will have its own specific quote according to its needs. For projects that use nearly identical configurations, a price per hectare is possible. This type of project demands a set of defined rules set by you to create a standard.

We hope to assist you in your future projects. We can help you succeed and serve your clients at the highest level. We are a small team, we react fast, we give attention to each project carefully, and we are here to serve those who believe in details.

Irrigation Supllies

Irrigation Supplies Israel

It is an undeniable fact that drip irrigation system is the key ingredient for countries to have significant impact in saving resources, cost of farming and profitability of yields. Food security is certainly a concern for the rapidly growing world’s population and this means people have to come up with better agricultural ideas to help feed the world and no country has made breakthrough in irrigation technologies than Israel.Irrigation Supllies

Israel’s drip irrigation system has had quite significant improvements to become the leading trend setter in the world today. It is supplying the world with technologies that help tens of millions to put food on their table. One particular firm Netafim in Israel has impacted global food production by their technology which enables farmers to reap crops twice a year rather than just once as was previously experienced. The technology known as ‘Tipa’ is a very simple technology that makes use of gravity when there lacks water supply from the rural areas. The technology is also being adopted in other African countries like Kenya, South Africa, Niger and Benin.

The country is also home to many irrigation companies which produce different technologies used in the worlds irrigation market today. The companies include The AIDL watering system which manufactures plant drip watering system for potted plants. The system employs a sensor technology that detects soil moisture content and releases water to the plant in response to moisture changes.

Metzerplas Irrigation- a kibbutz based industry of micro-irrigation products and various types of pipelines, SP pipe for cold and hot water plumbing, PE pipes for water infrastructure and telecommunication, and unique drippers designed with the widest dripper inlet filter and are well suited for SDI (Sub-Surface Drip Irrigation).

Galcon- a leading manufacturer of smart monitoring and control irrigation solutions for home owners, professionals and agriculture.

Amiad-Arkal Filters -filtration solutions from independent farmers to large agricultural co-ops.

Ein-Tal irrigation systems which mainly focus on micro drip irrigation systems based on gravity which does not require water pressure systems. Sadot who are manufactures of fertigation platform and shibolet irrigation systems.  The Al-Magor Metal and Plastic Works which deals with hand tools for punching holes into irrigation pipes and tools for inserting PVC fittings, irrigation controllers and generally irrigation fittings. Electrofusion fittings are specifically made for high performance, reliability and long life span, the Plasson Company ensures all the above are meet in their fittings products. In addition to that they offer superior custom fitting designs, compatibility and automated controlling.

Micro irrigation or just drip irrigation offers different types of irrigation in it. Subsurface Drip Irrigation is a specialized type where drip line, supply and flushing units are buried beneath soil surface. The technology has been used in Southern California for around forty years now. It offers numerous advantages like delivering water and nutrients directly to the soil, allow farm personnel to easily access the field for cultural operations even when irrigation is in progress and operates at frequent intervals of varied duration to address the many farming objectives and challenges experienced.

Thanks to the Israeli’s cutting edge technology, Israel not only produces most of its own food but also able to export about $ 1.3 billion worth of agricultural products annually to the world market. The irrigation supplies Israel contributes to the world enable them to bring a further $ 1.2 billion to their economy by selling them overseas. They have achieved this great fate in drip irrigation because their farmers and scientists have had vast experience in dealing with difficult environments and limited water supply.
